81 from the BS, Euro from the ZZZ and the 4 (US market is 6), no 1123 for the year.

I got the same as JP, but I think you got the VIN wrong. It should be WPOZZZ92ZBS841123 you had an extra 9 in it.

Well that was what I was given, but I am clear this is an '81 Euro we're talking about and not an '86 as seller stated thanks Gentlemen.

Yes Ken. I very much want a complete '85/'86 5spd drivetrain ... minus engine ... almost had it from ScottM till his friend indicated interest. So I'm pretty disappointed. Louie looked and immediately knew it looked like an early car, but all the same I wanted to know.

More info on VIN's:

http://www.autoinsurancetips.com/vin.htm

Full list of model years (10th digit) is:

A = 1980
B = 1981
C = 1982
D = 1983
E = 1984
F = 1985
G = 1986
H = 1987
J = 1988
K = 1989
L = 1990
M = 1991
N = 1992
P = 1993
R = 1994
S = 1995
T = 1996
V = 1997
W = 1998
X = 1999
Y = 2000
1 = 2001
2 = 2002
3 = 2003
4 = 2004

I, O and Q are not in use to make counterfeit more difficult. Also 9th char = check digit is one way of checking if VIN is valid. Unfortunately on 928's it's only in use at US models and Euros have Z. Also it's easy to calculate what digit should be based on all other characters in VIN. Some knowledgeable thief can get it right.
