High mileage...
my car shows 175K on the clock, and the odometer has been broken for about 3 years. I drive about 20-25K/yr.. so its gotta be in the 220K+ range. The PO says the PPO rebuilt the motor, but nobody could furnish any proof...
My 88 S4 has 265k on the clock and I use it daily. Still runs strong and I consider it to be reliable, I use it for local as well as long trips. (Yes, I know it may all change tomorrow, but I enjoy it while it lasts!)

Thanks everyone for your replies. Gives me lots to think on. Anyone agree that a bit higher mileage that has been well used may be better than very low miles that has just been sitting? Remember, newbie here so be easy and type slowly. Just thinking that with that amount of electronics gathered in one place that a "sitter upper" with low miles might be a problem waiting to happen. Thanks again!!
It's not as simple.
I agree, high miles are no problem under normal driving.
I agree, low miles likely indicate lack of service and exercise, and accompanying leaks etc
But:
A properly-maintained low-mile car (and they are rare) is a wonderful thing. My 1985 is such a car, and it is clear that the car has never been revved high. It's clear the car has never been abused. She feels brand spanking new. I've owned and driven many Porsches and had always wondered how it would feel to drive a brand new 928. I've experienced that in Mark Kiernes' car (see the 928 Forum writeup I did) ... and now again in this '85 of mine. It's worth a lot.

Thanks Heinrich. Indeed, the low mileage vehicles for less than a kings ransom are hard to find. Buddy of mine called me and told me that he found a good price on a 94'GTS with under 20,000. When I asked how much, he began to laugh and then told me the guy was asking $76000! Wouldn't it be nice to have that kind of cash lying around the house??
Low miles vs High miles debate...
My take....its all about the car, or more specifically the maintence of the car....I mean it had to run to get all those miles, so it had to be maintained..... I would take a clean high mile car over a leaky low mile car any day.
I did hear of a german who had a 500K km 928 he wanted to put in the porsche museum...they told him "come back with a mill and we'll see!"

340KKm, daily driver.
If I were to buy another 928, low mileage would be about as important to me as the presence of a compresser for the spare-tire. Sure, it's nice if it's there but I'd never choose nor discard a car because of it.
