Default Vacuum lines not working.

First and foremost, I apologize if this is a repetitive question, but I searched until about 4 am this morning and couldn't find what I was looking for so here goes...I replaced my hot water valve a few days ago and am still getting hot air in the cabin. Having been a longtime RX-7 fan and owning a few, I was at least used to the tight work space in the engine compartment. Anyway, not being sure when the valve should open or close itself, I tried it several ways..ie. A/C on, off, heater on, off..etc. During none of these settings did the vacuum line ever have any suction pressure. I know that you have to be rolling down the highway to see if the hot air is still pushing through the vents with everything set the way it should, but shouldn't the vacuum line have pressure on it at some point in time if not all the time? I found where it runs under the intake but then I lost it. I found a line immediately in front of the intake on top of the motor. Took it off, no pressure from the metal nozzle that it attaches to there. Is this it or do I have another one not working? One last and then I'll hush. Is it common to have to doctor with the hose sizes to get the new hot water valve to fit? I had to rig some 5/8 heater hose and then step down to the stock hose to get everything to work. (87' auto by the way in case it makes a difference) Kudos to everyone here again for all your help and I have only been here a week. Thanks guys!!! (and gals!)

Vacuum flow to the heater valve:
- Intake to brake booster check valve on large hose.
- Booster check valve to black/blue check valve on very small hose. Check for full vacuum flow out of this check valve.
- Check valve to four-way splitter. Check for cracks.
- Splitter to firewall on small black line.
- Firewall to vacuum solenoid manifold on small black line. The vacuum solenoid cuts off the vacuum when it is activated.
- Vacuum solenoid to firewall on white line.
- Firewall to heater valve on white line.

If you find nothing wrong in any of these, pull the console side cover on the driver's side, and look for a bundle of thin colored plastic lines by the driver's calf. Get a few inches of rubber line that is a snug fit over the plastic lines.

Use a sharp razor knife to cut the orange line, and test the upper portion that runs up into the dash - it should hold vacuum. If it does, splice the line with the rubber hose. If it doesn't, plug the forward portion of the line that runs to the vacuum solenoids. It is not necessary to plug the end that you tested.

Repeat on the blue, yellow and green line if necessary. Don't test the black or the white lines.

Replace any bad vacuum actuators when you get around to it..
