He meant "Oil Wheel Drive"...

It has oil on the wheels from all the leaks...

"This is a very nice original 928 all wheel drive."

I think this might be a grammatical error. They tried to say" It drives and still has all wheels...

"This car will not last long at this price."

Sure, if it's a cheap aftermarket conversion, it will break pretty quickly....

Sorry, no prize winner yet (see https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/173340-4x4-928-a.html for what you COULD have won - damn, what am I going to do with this thing?). If only you'd found the following 6 cylinder, front-wheel drive 928, then you could'a been a contender:

It's also the rare 928 54 model.

I woulda thought as long as they were making it an all wheel drive, that they would have jacked it up a few feet to give it that Dodge Durango look.

Obviously, the dealer does not know anything about Porsche 928's. He must think the S4 at the end means 4 wheel drive. There are some real rocket scientists in the car dealership business.

As for that 6 cylinder, front wheel drive 928? That guy knows a little bit. He knows Porsches are 6 cylinders (911s) and since he saw the engine in the front, must have assumed it was front wheel drive. Another rocket scientist no less.

I bet the car has 2 wheels ... the rear ones, and for the pic the sneaky dealer put them both onto the driver's side. But he'll swap them back and this gem will once again be an AWD

When they say: "The car will not last long" ... I bet that is justification for full disclosure, ie translated: "This POS will fall apart soon".

Hey don't laugh - At the gas station the other day the owner of a carrera 4 asked me if my car wasa 4 wheel drive - "isn't that what the S4 means" says he?

I just shook my head and said no.....of course not......

Funny..........

I get asked all the time if my S4 is 4wd... funny thing is, on quite a few occasions while filling gas, it has been from 996 and Boxster drivers... The other question is how old is it... Then their jaws drop when they hear it's (now) 18years old... Then I tell them it has a bazillion miles, is driven daily, and they freak 'cause they have garage queens... Then I mention oh, by the way, it also goes to the track, and then I get the you're nuts look... Just in time to get in and drive off while they pick up their jaws from the pavement..

That is a little-known engineering trick Porsche had up its sleeve. Build unisex cars and turn them forward or backward for FWD/RWD ... voila!

Richard

I used to be soooo disgusted at the way Americans treat their Porsches. Where I come from they are ULTRA-EXPENSIVE. But .... I have come to understand that the Americans treat their Porsches (well, many of them) like Germans do. DAILY DRIVERS!!

I love it, and I've been doing that since coming here too
