Hi Ernest,
this may help;

Blackstone Laboratories
4929 South Lafayette Street, Fort Wayne IN 46806 (260) 744-2380

This Laboratory is "in the business" and may have a branch near you

I have used the following Mobil "Contract" Lab in the US but I do not know where it is based (Jackie was my contact);

Jackie Crain-Smith
Signum Oil Analysis Laboratory
913-573-1705

Ernest, it is a good idea to request the TAN (Total Acid Number) and TBN (Total Base Number) readings. If only one test is possible I suggest the TBN
While not so important in a robust mixed fleet "diesel" synthetic oil (like Delvac 1 5w-40) which has enormous acid neutralising capacity, it does give an indication of how the oil is surviving in your particular operating environment and and they enable a measured prediction of oil life left

There is a large group of 928s using Delvac 1 5w-40 here in Australia with excellent results and some owners have been bulk buying and sharing

As you know I am not in the oil business nor connected to any Oil Company in any way whatsoever

It is a very hot humid day here in the Tropics - our rainy season. It is 29C inside my Unit (just about to put the aircon on) and about 38C outside - I'm just leaving for a quick drive thru the canefields in the S4 to give its Delvac 1 a workout!!!

Kind Regards
Doug

Doug,
Thank you very much for your efforts. I'll contact the labs and choose one next week. Pam and I will be exploring the wilds of New Hampshire over Christmas week so it will probably be in the new year before I can report.
