Default Loom Bandage

I've carelessly allowed the aircon belt to eat some of the wiring loom insulation. What can I use as a bandage? Will insulation tape survive the engine bay temperatures?

As there is a mere 12v DC to deal with, any good grade electrical tape should do: the best I've seen is used by the high voltage guys - where the spiral wrapped tapers are made to minimize voltage 'bleed - off' - find a friendly industrial electrician.
However, almost any good tape should do, as the best airflow is available there if heat is a concern.
After restoring the insulation, there are any number of automotive sources that sell a spiral wrap hard polymer loom protector/wire 'gatherer': this stuff is tough and has a fierce memory, so the loom looks factory tidy ( or better than) once applied.
