Actually they are $ 731.05 each, which is exactly the problem! I think there was a discussion of rebuilding these at one point.

Gotta wonder what you're talking about.

I got the engine shocks for my '80 from Pelican, and installed them, for $24 bucks each last winter. Go to Pelican's website, enter that part number. You'll be happy. The mounts are there, too. ($147)

The shocks will age. The ones I took off had no resistance. Any car that has not had them replaced should get new ones. The originals are all at least 22 years old.

Pelican is $731 too.

Anyone try matching these at a local parts store?

Can anyone shed some light on this as the Porsche parts listings show different parts for the different models (78 to about 84 and then 84 on).

Many thanks

Here is an image from my PET on the 78 mount. I hope it is legible as I had to reduce it a lot to meet the upload requirements of the forum.

OK now I understand your confusion.

The "vibration damper" is the harmonic balancer on the crank shaft. The damper shocks are $27. Check the part numbers.

Oh. Those are different! :-)

It's odd because I went back and forth with them on this about 6 months ago. Funny they have a harmonic balancer listed in the engine mount section.

In any case, searching on the part number did the trick. I just ordered a couple - thanks for clearing that up.

Check 928 Int for engine shock, price is $50, more in line with what you would expect.

I just got my little shock replacements - for far less than $700 each :-). It took about an hour to put them in. It smoothed out the feel of the car quite a bit. The old ones I took out were still fairly stiff, but the new ones were definitely stiffer. Recommended as an easy, cheap, and effective update.
