Default my daughter and I

Just spent the last couple of hours in the garage with my nine year old daughter working on the car. She had a blast getting all dirty. Really liked tightening all the bolts as I put things back together. All was great until Fear Factor came on and she left me saying to call her if I needed any help. Was really cool to see my girl getting her hands dirty. If her mom only Knew.....

My 14 year old daughter is not into working on the car, but she does do all her own wrenching on her skateboard!

My daughter helped my line up the TC drain plug. Okay all she had to do was turn the key but she hit it the first shot.

I secretly wanted a boy but got a girl that was kicking the boys butts in pre-school. Pretty awesome to have the best of both worlds. Her mom is trying to make her a girly girl and I want her to be able to change a tire when needed. Who knows she might get her own 928 someday. I can at least show her some of the simple stuff. Just realized this should likely be in OT...sorry Randy!

My seven year old daughter asked her mom the other morrning, if she thought it would be ok if dad took her to school in the fast car (S4). On the way (in the mom-mobile) she told my wife her friends and teachers like dads fast car.

Kids, go figure!

Well I don't have kids, but my nephew summed it up well the first time he saw my 928.... "WOW, a Corvette!" I corrected him (in a nice way) that it was a Porsche which is much nicer than a Corvette....a couple weeks later I pull up to his house while he was playing with his friend...his friend says "Nice Corvette", my nephew corrects him with "Its not a corvette, Stupid, its a Porsche...its way better than a Corvette!"

I love that kid!

She should have stayed with working on the car. Fear Factor was weak last night.

My 6 year old son loves helping out on the restoration project, and for his birthday I got him a basic tool set including sockets and wrenches (metric of course)

My 10 year old daughter thinks it is just a lump of metal, but she did come out and help me over the summer and really enjoyed it.

Just the other evening I caught the 2 of them flipping a coin to see who would get the Porsche and who would get the BMW when they start driving!

My 8 year old likes to sit out in the garage with me and hand me wrenches. He arranges all the wrenches by number, knows which can is WD40, which PB Blaster, etc. Discarded parts get cleaned up and become additions to his toy box...

Love that kid.

My daughter Katie helped me prep the car for concours last year. 13 y/o hands can get to places I can't reach. It looked fantastic when we'd finished and we got a second place but the winner really didn't deserve it and Kate was most indignant. She wants to start cleaning a month earlier to be sure to beat him this year!

My sons have much more important things to do than help work on the cars, they simply ask when it is fixed if they can go for a ride.

9 year old boy to my wife in a parking lot while i was @ the store:
"WOW! us THAT a PORSCHE (note the right pronunciation)?"
Wife: "yes, this is a Porsche, it's a.."
Boy:"WOW!! a 928! the fastest car in the world!!!" (i have the same opinion)
Boy: "This car is worth a million dollars wow! are you millionare?"
Wife: "Well..(she knows the car can cost a million bucks..but in maintenance costs)...is not that expensive, and we are not even near being rich.."
The kid went straight to his mom "mom! a PORSCHE 928!!!" (she didn't paid attention, bad mom)
I looove the kid, maybe i will adopt him someday

*scratches head* I can barley get my roommates to help me work on my car let alone my 12yr old sister.

Good kids you all have

Man, I'm feeling old now...my girls are 18 and 12. The 18 year old just says "dad, it doesn't work", no interest whatsoever in learning about it, and believe it or not, doesn't like driving a Porsche when we're stuck because the domestic vehicle isn't running again.

The 12 year old on the other hand loves the P-cars. Her friends call her "Porsche Brittany" and love riding to soccer or basketball practice with us. Only problem is it gets the boys' attention, something we would like to quell at this time. Maybe she'll be interested in working on the Porsches if she thinks she may get one.
