Question to the group; What would cause the converter drive flange bolts to rub against the convertor housing? Is there any adjustment that would move the flange plate further back towards the torque converter? As you may imagine it's making quite a bit of a screetching racket? anyone?
One more question, is the drive flange a wear item? anyone replace just the flange?
It's an 84 Euro Auto - Thanks in advance - k1woods

Time to replace the 2 bearings in front converter housing. They are pressed in and they are sealed bearings. Best suggestion is when you have it out, take it to a machine shop with the new bearings and give them the enlarged illustration from the PET, so they no what the proceedure will be. There are circlips and a spacer that need to be dealt with, rather than them pressing and not knowing why they are having problems removing.
BTW, DO NOT run the car until this is fixed!!!!
Oh yeah, if you are going to have this thing apart, it would be a great time to re-fin that converter! I just had mine done at EDGE Racing Converters and it made a great difference!
