You'll find a site that will tell you the importance of fuel pressure and flow. This is what i had in mind in my previous suggestion.

Greg,

I had a similar problem in the s4 before, but it was in the 130-140 mph
range. The car ran great below that, acceleration was fine. I couldn't
tell there was a problem until I tried to go real fast. After trying a lot
of things, check fuel pressure, change fuel filter, octane booster,
injector cleaner, etc. I found the problem to be the intake fuel pump.
The rubber hose between the two halves of the pumps was torn, so
most of the fuel from the pump was just circulating into the tank. After
changing the pump, the problem went away.

Andrew...thanks for the link....its a good read!

George...great analogy! nice to hear of someone who has been there FIXED that!

I'll be investigating the fuel system pressure / deliverability deeper now that the usual suspects have been eliminated.
