Default Homemade Cooler Protector

When Roger and I did the motor mounts on my GTS, we discovered this high tech piece of engineering. We forgot to take pictures while we worked on the car. This time when we did the timing belt and tensioner rebuilt we took some pictures. The previous owner welded 2 "L"-shape metal pieces to the front lower A-arm mounts. Finally he bolted this piece of metal between these mounts. The only thing that he forgot is the drain hole for the coolant drain pug. That's why I had to take it off and drill a hole for the drain plug. I know from the previous owner that the cooler has been replaced, probably due to hitting street bumps. The construction is pretty sturdy and it absorbes (so far) all front abuse due to the low clearance. It doesn't look pretty but it works VERY well so far.

They put skid plates on F-150's for that but it looks like a good idea. Does it have any impact on the lower arms themselves? I hope you are drilling a hole before putting it back this time.

Pre-mature posting you ARE putting the hole in. Is there a penalty for that? Is it still straight? I'd re-paint it before I put it back just to see what and where I was doing things I wasn't supposed to be.

The hole is already put in and to clarify things. It sits on top of the front spoiler black plastic and there are 5 holes drilled for the belly pan screws. It can't catch anything unless the complete lower front spoiler plastic is removed. There are no signs of bending so far, but the M6 bolts that hold the front portion of the belly pan take a lot of the abuse.
