Default Red UFO's new Red UFO (56k Warning)

So I bought Jamies red 85 Euro. A thread about the shark was posted here but got deleted a few weeks back. I was looking for a cab or 86.5 5 speed. But fell in love with this example. After I thought about it I couldn't let it go. Like a good women the right shark don't come around everyday. There aren't alot of 86.5 or Euros out there. I wanted a pre 87 in red or black with a 5 speed and no syncro problems. So I figured I better grab this low mile Euro before some 'dealer' buys it and tries to sell it back to me later. I'm the 4th owner of the car, it has 57k miles and everything is 8/10 on body, engine, interior or higher.

This shark will be a garage gueen mostly. I have another red shark to get me to work and school. The one will will be cleaned up and driven around once in a while and I'll drive it to sharktoberfest. There are no major dents and only 2 small dings I have found so far.

The headlight steering **** was disconnected. Anyone know how to fix that?

The seats are in pretty good shape, there are no cracks in pod or dash. Shark came with all four keys. The warning lights are in german, came with German and English manuals, plus service history back to original service at 18,000 miles. All brakes and rotors are new, motor mounts were just replaced, and 10k+ worth of service history on this 85 came with it. This shark was never molested, driven but never stored long..

83 on the left, 85 on the right.
Blue Jeep for sale, BTW.

Neighbors driving by where giving the thumbs up about 2 sharks sitting out. Even though somebody molested my 83 before I got it and I'm slowing bringing it back to life.
I think when I bought my first shark. I had no idea what I was getting into and just loved them and bought whatever was handy. After getting this Euro. I feel sorry for the 83. Somebody had alot of fun raping and molesting the crap out of it. Financally I'd be better off parting this 83 our or selling it. But can't send a shark to the crusher for the life of me.

Now I'm a picky owner with some wisdom of these machines and the 83 will live.

Multiple UFOs

The benefit I look forward to with two sharks. Is I can now drive one around for a couple weeks. While I do more intense work on another one and the up keep will be more consistent because before I only had the weekend to do a project.

The tranny shifts pretty smooth, its pretty quite drive train compared to my whiny 83. But this shark roars nicely none the less. I can't say with 310 hp its faster than the 83. Both are fast. But I work the gears about the same and get about the same performance on both machines.

The only thing wrong with this shark is dash lights are out, door panels need to be reglued, need bulbs on side marker lights, hood release needs another dish, the Alpine cassette needs to be DVD player with GPS, Internet, and surveilance camers system built in for long drives.

But to get this shark, I had to fly to Athens, Georgia and drive 2,100 miles home.

The seller was a stand up guy, very nice and easy to work with. He disclosed everything he knew and an ideal seller you'd want on a well taken care of shark.

So on my drive home. I decided to stop in New Orleans and visit with Abby. He got a very sweet black 86.5 5 speed with low miles recently. This town is the total party town, IMHO.

So we meet and then head to a park so we can take pics of our sharks. At a stop light Abby turns left, then guns it. I'm following him and I hit the gas also. I was only in 2nd gear with 5,000 RPM when the radar detector (Rich Andre loaned me, thanks) went crazy. A cop behind me. Holy F!!!

So I easy it into 3rd gear and back off. The cop hits the lights and I have to pull over. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Now I might go to jail, or get speeding tickets and F up my insurance!!!

Immediately I think of Nicole's thread about her speeding ticket. Don't say nothing, admit no guilt, but tell the truth sort of like Gary Condit does legally! Then all the sudden Clark W. Griswold comes to mind. He got out of a cop pulling him over after dragging a dog to death by saying he was sorry over and over.

The cop walks up after I stop the shark. Asks for license then says.

Cop: Do you know how fast you were driving?

Red: 45 MPH.

Cop: I got you doing almost 55! enphasays on the almost!
Red(thinks) How come I'm not recording you with the video camera, this is great material.

Cop: Do you know what the speed limit is:

Red: 45 MPH

Cop: It's 35 MPH and I can write you up for atleast 3 things I can think of including wreckless driving!

Red(thinks) Wreckless driving from 2nd gear? What happens if I hit 3rd?
Red says: Sorry, I really didn't know this car was so fast. I just bought it. I really am sorry (hands drivers license to cop).

Cop: And I would have got your buddy too(Abby), there were kids on that street you blew down.

Red: Like I said I really am sorry!

So the cop looks at the back of the shark, then hands back my license and says go and get out of there!

Was it the power of the force from master Obi Wan.

These aren't the shark your looking for!

These aren't the sharks were looking for. Move along!

Did the force happen? Or did the cop see the car and figure he'd be doing the same thing if he owned it?

Anyway, here are some pics with Abbys 86.5!

In San Antonia, I got pulled over again. I went thru a radar trap, the cop ran off and caught up to me. I was only doing 65 MPH. I looked in the mirror and saw him doing that "looking you up thing" on the computer. Then he drove away on some exit ramp. Obi Wan taught me well, I knew he was faking it, and this was a reverse false flag operation. Where he expected me to 'gun it' thinking the cop left. I didn't because I had the cruise control set on 65 MPH.

A few minutes later, he sneaks back and hits the cherries on me. I pull over, roll down the window, get ready to say "I'm sorry" for something again. Cops says my headlight and taillight are out. (knew the taillight was out, seller told me). So I look and see both headlights shining on the blacktop. Ask the cop.

Red: Which headlight is out?

Cop: Left one I think.

Red, Which taillight is out?

Cop: I definately know its the passenger side.

I see both headlights are working, but know you hand a cop his *** and show he is wrong. You get a ticket. I apologize and say I"ll fix the light (that I see is on as soon as I can, wondering if this is Reno 911?) Then he lets me go. I drive another 900 miles with no stupid cops and the shark works flawlessly.

Ha, Both my sharks have PD. Its PD head quarters over here now.

My plans for this shark are. Put it in the garage for 2 months on jack stands and clean the F out of everything. I just think, What would Chuck Z do?. Then I do it.

So next year I plan to put on GTS rims with new rubber, also put in a pop out DVD player and maybe GPS combo to long trips. I have a nice system on the 83 and won't move it. So I'll build up a nice stereo in this 85. It has a factory Alpine, that must have cost a fortune brand new. I'll go Alpine DVD to upgrade and keep everything as stock as possible. I want to do polished chrome on the spider when I get the chance (need to sell some conspiracy tapes or something for funds).

Finally I found a complete shark with my life long dream of belly pan, cargo stuff, maintance history and all that stuff, I didn't get with the first shark, because I didn't know **** when I bought the 83.

2nd honeymoon with this shark.

1. Swap the headlights.
2. Install Ott Crossover with Borla's, install earplugs, let'er rip!

Looks good, there are several of us with 84/85 euro motors, so just speak up if you have any questions.

BTW - Your one question in your fun story..."The headlight steering **** was disconnected. Anyone know how to fix that?"
Been a number of threads on this - so far no one has come up with a 'fix'...sorry...

red 928S 5spd euro = the ultimate shark according to me. An absolute dream car, congrats!

..well, the ultimate on this side of a ClubSport that is...

keep is stock, PD and all, consider the 21mm spacers that were an original option.

Congratulations to your new baby! You have a nice collection there! And I'm most surprised to see you live in a normal house, not some science fiction style space station with a UFO landing pad...

But I'm confused about the ticket - the cop's badge on the pic says "Colorado" - no?

Either way, you got lucky. I'm still waiting to hear what mine will cost me... A radar detector does seem like a worthwhile investment now, even though I drive so little these days...
