You could always get another seat that will let you mount it lower. Ig you track it it makes a lot of sense.

I have a long torso... fortunately I have big old long ape arms. So I can recline the seat to where my head doesn't touch the roof, and still reach the wheel in regulation fashion.

Maybe you could get your arms elongated?

Cool

Get a driver's seat that is manual. The manual seats don't have all those motors to sit on and you will be lower. You could always change it in and out for track use. There are only 4 bolts to R & R. You will also save about 50 lbs as those power seats are HEAVY! Good luck.

I had the same problem. I started to remove the headliner at one point in an attempt to gain headroom. That didn't last very long as the trim around the sunroof opening wasn't going to come out without a serious fight and likely some damage. I don't know about manual seats, the power ones are really pretty low profile, motors and all. I do think that a seat change is about the only option though. Too bad because I could do without that mail slot above my head, but that is how most of them came. This issue is a big reason why I haven't tracked my car for some time, blasphemy, I know.

I have the opposite problem. My seat at max up positions me too low and I end up looking through the bottom half of the screen. However, I've noted that this does not happen if I sit in the passengers seat so I put it down to collapse of the foam padding in the driver's seat. Seat of the pants feel supports this. A good trim shop could probably raise my seating position by adding foam and lower yours by reducing it.

That's possible - a buddy who tracks his 911 had some foam shaved off when he had his seats re-trimmed. Downside is they're less comfortable over long periods, as there is less give as the foam compresses.

My plan is to add manual sport seats or try 993/968 seats (they look lower, have the same power options).

Why not try Recaro SRD (or whatever name they are. Check Devek's site) seats?

i swapped in some original 928 manual sports seats and they made no difference to the height. recaro fixed buckets have solved this issue for me. i dont know how much is gained by removing the roof lining as there is another layer of steel underneath.
