Official Porsche PET for $15
Just a heads up:
SunCoast Motorsports has the PET on sale for $14.95 plus shipping (<$8). It's in their Weekly Specials, if the link below doesn't work.
I have no idea if that's a good price, but it's a LOT better than the one on eBay right now, and it's a newer edition (8/04). Worth it to me.

THEN there was this thread. DOH!! Sorry, Heinrich.

"PET App vs. pdf CD
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have the PET program subscription at work ($2k annually) and have been using it for the last 7 years. For comparison I ordered the PET CD pdf version from the local friendly Porsche dealer ($11.04 list, $9.94 w/PCA disc.) It covers all models from 356 to 997 and is organized very well.
For what we all need the parts catalog for it works okay. The application is better if you use it all day and create large parts orders. To look up a few part numbers or see how something fits together the pdf CD is more than adequate.
Since the legal version was recently discussed I thought I would give you my impression. The part number is 000 043 400 05. The guy’s at the dealer had no idea this was available.

Fogey mine arrived today. I have already thrown the old copied PET away, the new Aug 2004 one is INCREDIBLE!!! Much easier, no proprietary program, no display issues, no loncked-in searching and unlimited zooming and panning. 100% PDF. Very good idea ... thanks again for the heads-up, a wonderful addition to my toolset. And now it's official, not bootlegged. 15 bucks

Note that this is not the PET like the dealers use. It's the pics and text extracted to PDF format.
I've got both and still like the old "real" PET5 for some things. The new "civilian" one doesn't have a order form capability. I've built several very long wish lists and then faxed them in for quotes and orders. Very handy.
I do like the PDF versions search capabilities. No clickable links from picture to part number, though.
I've got PET5 and understand that PET6 is better. Still no US prices. Give me dealer list!
