Default On Wide Bodies and wheel arches...

Fat Bully's getting fatter. We've started shaping the wide body...

Something that bothers me about all the wide bodies I've seen is that everyone seems to opt for round wheel arches in the rear and not the square 928 look. I like the square look. The work in progress pic below gives an Idea of what I'm talking about. (In this pic the car stands 20mm higher 'cause it was jacked up to fit the wheels.)

Opinions? Should I rather go round like everyone else, or go for square arches?

Hello Jo,

As a matter of fact, I'm modelling my car after yours. Downloaded every pic I could find on the internet and we have them pasted all over the garage.

I think you can buy the body kit from AIR (928 INTL can get it for you). Will save you alot of work

Not an option for a cheapskate like me, besides, timing is an issue right now.

Say, do you perhaps have a photo of the back of your car, taken standing behind the car?

Thanks,

Pierre.

I have both. Square arches in the front are really cool and part of the 928 character. As for the rear, the key is for the wheel arch to be somewhat reflected in the arch where the flare meets the body. So a hybrid or slightly rounded square is probably best if you wan to stay away from perfectly round arches.

Hey Tarek,
Hope you didn't have any 'tire issues' going home from Frenzy.
Good seeing you and the gang at Frenzy 8.

Hope you post some of the Jacquemond pics some day.

My shark is still in-op. LF bilstein height adjuster froze to shock body.
And now she don't start.
I'm still aiming for SITM 2005.

I've said it before and will say it again: Theh 928 needs the square wheel arches because it would otherwise look way too massive (as in heavy, bulky). The square arches break up the surfaces better and make the car look smaller overall. The guys who designed this were geniusses... they knew what they were doing and why.

GTS rear arches are rounded....a subtle difference most people haven't even noticed.

There has been a pic of a red widebody 928 that had round rear wheel arches and a lot of people seemed to like it.

They all look like they have round rear arches...

So hell, why not try something different, and try to keep the stock look, but wider?
