Lightbulb Momo Steering Wheel Install ~ '88 S4

Just received a Momo Millenium steering wheel from 928sp and thought I'd share my install experience.

The revomal of the stock Porsche strg wheel is as explained in the diagramatic instructions.......centre the front wheels, remove power, fuse #18 or disconnect batt., pull off centre horn section from either side, disconnect wire, loosen and remove 27mm nut and washer, requires non impact socket with 6" extention and ratchet, re-centre the front wheels...........remove strg wheel.

Install is almost the reverse except horn operation. The stock wheel has a small contact patch for the ground strip vs the Momo large patch...........the ground strip has to be 'tweeked' so that it is oriented more to the outer position of the Momo steering wheel adapter making proper electrical contact. Ensure that your positioning straight, install adapter and rubber cover, install washer and nut and torque, install horn collar, install strg wheel w/ 6 screws, connect horn button to wire on Momo adapter, connect Momo supplied ground wire to ground on horn button.......test for horn operation.

All going well install Momo horn cover with chrome bezel.

Took me a while to figure out why the horn didn't initially work but follow the above and you'll be OK. I did read previous posts but as with our beloved car there are many suttle variances between models and years.

Hope this helps...........tfs

Meant to mention, the new wheel looks very good compared to the 16yr old original................highly recommend the upgrade/change. It's also a little smaller which makes 'getting in & out' a little easier on the old bones..............YMMV !!!

I bought my hub adapter from 928sp...........it matches the steering column perfectly on my car..........not sure about other years or models. Perhaps give 928sp a call.........tfs

Scotsman,

Got mine from GPR. 800-321-5432. $39 plus shipping.
Makes it look more like a "Porsche" Wheel! You can install the wheel you've got and install the horn button later. Depending on what MOMO you got, you may have to just remove the trim ring. I've got the Fighter model and that's all I had to do. Good luck!!
