Question for Carl on Stage 3 CIS S/C
Carl,
In an earlier post you had mentioned that you lose the AC if you go to the Stage 3 set-up. Is this due to the larger size of the gear driven s/c encroaching on the a/c space? If so, I just had a thought, but don't know if it is doable. If you don't run the air pump, can the compressor be located there?
I know it may require some creative plumbing and brackets, and I haven't even looked at my motor to see if it makes sense, but given your familiarity of the motor just thought I'd ask
Thanks

I have not been able to get a centrifugal compressor to mount where the EGR pump is. I have tried several. Not nuff room between the timing belt cover and the radiator.
On our Stage 1 and 2 kits we have the head unit mounted where the viscous clutch fan is now (with additional triangulating mounts as well). But the SC is mounted sideways to get the hood to close normally. I can so that with the Powerdyne head unit because it is permanently lubricated and has no oil lines.
On our Stage 3 kit - what ios basically a race kit - we use a bigger blower that is oil fed and it has to be mounted upright for optimum performance.
We remove the AC compressor and mount the SC headunit in that location.
Also, this permits a lower center of gravity for the 24 lb unit.
