Unhappy Polls - Are we having Fun Yet??

Not to start another - poll, that is - but at current count on the 'front page', there are 3 Admin topics, 15 regular threads - and 19 polls! .
Polls are fine little bits of fun - even constructive and informative, and sometimes are far less. One thing that they all seem to share is that like Lazarus - they all arise from the dead to occupy front page space whenever a vote is entered. At the current rate, we'll soon have a full page of polls to welcome anyone signing on.
Life could be worse - but what of the new threads that arise? - requesting help for the urgent issue of the day, or communicating the latest 'news flash', or whatever. Their life span on the more visible front page will be severely limited: If unanswered quickly and/or frequently, they will not fall, but be pushed by the polls into the abyss of page two - or even worse - pg. 3!
So, what will it be - a combo of 35 current and ancient polls to greet your sign-in, with their immortality assured by each fresh vote - or some mechanism to limit their life span culminating in a final report of results: merely mortal, like the rest of us. Ahhhh, that sounds like a poll - but trust me, it isn't!

Garth,
I think that someone may be going back and voting to bring the poll forward... maybe.

I'd never do anything like that!

Ok, Ok so I did it ONCE. But the poll was only barely on page 2. I swear.

I'm sorry

There was more than one person - collusion!!!
I wonder who might be behind this - Heinrich maybe??
Maybe we should do a poll to see who people think are behind this conspiracy to bring forward old polls.

OK, I'll set those old polls as 'closed'.
