Thinking about an S4... Any For Sale?
Since my 951 decided to lose compression, Im on the hunt for a new toy car. Im thinking about a 87+ 928 S4 black/black or guards and newer the better. I would like to find something that is not in need of any work with all records and recent TB etc, also no dash cracks, closer to mint the better.. Im in Boston and willing to spend 8-14K depending on the car. Does anyone know of any that they would recommend? also whats the Highway MPG figures, It will mainly be used for my spirited hour long commute to work...
Thanks,
Zack

One on AutoTrader I looked at. It's $14,900 black on black, 5 speed. I talked with the owner he said the only thing it would need is a switch for the power seat and the bolster is slightly faded but could be dyed if you wanted to. I ran a CarFax and it's clean. The owner is having a kiddo, keeps it in a rented garage and has too many cars to keep up with the new addition. Here's the description:
Porsche 928 S4! Rare 5 speed,316hp,black on black, excellent condition, most service records available, runs, drives and looks awesome, true collectors car, 18 inch speedline wheels with new dunlop tires approximately $6000 worth wheels and tires alone, im a true car enthusiast, and this car has been well maintained, and one of the nicest 928s4s i have ever seen, clean carfax, the paint has a mirror finish like it was new from the showroom, interior is real clean no cracks in the dash, always garaged, engine and trans no issues, no leaks, a real solid car, has a momo steering wheel, any questions please email me at danno928s4@aol.com or call 717-332-6388
It's located in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area. If you go to www.autotrader.com and do an advanced search on 10k-16k w/ manual trans at any distance, you'll get a few to choose from and the VIN is WP0JB0926HS861041.
I decided to go with a silver one that was less (10k), but needed some work (about 3k doing it myself).
Happy hunting!

deliriousga,
Curious as to when you talked to him. Was it recently?
I saw this ad as well since it is very very close to me but if you look at the carfax it looks to have been registered in Montana on Oct. 12.

Zack . . . I got an 87 S4. Red with tan, 12 way heated seats, new transmission has 800 miles on it, TB & WP have 550 miles on them, rear tires same, power steering pump. Possible delivery to New Jersey. $10500 firm. The interior is mint but it does need some paint work.
Edit . . Has 114k on it.

I know that Roger Tyson (Rog100) purchased a cherry Black/Black 89 S4 this week. The car looked awesome in picks. He was bringing it home to DFW to finish up TB Wpump etc. You may want to contact him as I think he plans to sell it once complete.
Good luck!

Here's one, though I am afraid you'll have to compromise some. It is not the standard S4 but the "54" variant. The differences are few and subtle - namely 2 less cylinders and the motor drives the front wheels.
