Default 29th 928 Euro

I met the owner of this shark at Frenzy on Sat, nice fellow, not affiliated with any of the shark groups as best I can tell.
story is, he bought the car 20+ yrs ago from a US mil Capt at Fort Sill, OK just after the car arrived in the US
he has the original German title showing what appears to be Porsche as the owner (company car) with Ferdie Porsche's signature on the "sellers signature" line, AWESOME
he also has the original "for sale" ad from the PO with a $15k sticker price
the car is reputed to be the display car from the 78 Frankfurt auto show (if someone has pics of this show or can point me to some I'd appreciate it)
supposedly it's the only OB made with white exterior and red leather interior
overall a GREAT piece of history
the NOT SO GREAT...
232k km (145k miles) NO KNOWN TB CHANGE!!!!!!!!!
interior and exterior in need of attention
respray is undescribable without tears
engine was painted white at some time and is pealing
also note:
no rear fog light
door tag is wrong from importer
only solidifies the many differences in the early cars and the true unigueness I feel is missing in many later models

OMG! Some people have no respect for anything, it seems....

There was no Frankfurt Auto Show in 1977 - the Frankfurt show is only every second year, and it's always odd years. However, since this is such an early car, it might well be the one shown at the Geneva Auto show in 1977, and maybe again in Frankfurt in Fall of 1977.

The VIN - even though a '78 VIN points towards a very early car that was likely made before the summer of 1977. These early cars all came with '78 VIN numbers - to the best of my knowledge there were no '77 numbers.

The first 928 I ever got to drive myself was a Euro with VIN 0166, imported and for sale by the original owner. I have never seen the car again. It was petrol blue with black/whte "Pascha" interior. Mechanically, it was very well taken care of at 180k miles. However, it needed too much cosmetical work for me to do at the time... Anybody know where the car is today?

I also talked with the owner; he was pretty oblivious. Rixter needs that car, and if somebody has to "make him an offer he can't refuse" I would do it.

Rixter's the man! He sold me a beautiful leather pod for the Weissach at Frenzy.

Thanks Carl!
I did offer to purchase the vehicle when/if he decides to part with it.
I did find it odd that he stated that 3 of his center caps disappeared at the painters and he never got resolution on the issue and still hasn't replaced them. Guess I will get in his good graces and send him a set on the house!
Carl, I want to also thank you and Don for taking the time to speak to my friend regarding 928 ownership. He retires at the end of the year and is now SOLD on purchasing a 928 as his retirement present to himself! I figure late spring early summer next year I'll be searching out a pristine S4 for him.
