Be aware that the ZZZ vin is a red flag in some states like California and may pose major registration problems.

Yep, Eurospec. That mean it will have problems getting registered in the US?
Also on E-Bay are three 928's at the same time with out rear air.

In Canada you can legally import a euro model when its 15 years old. In the US when its 25. That could be a problem.

actually you may import any year vehicle into the US as long as it can be converted to USDOT/EPA specs...
however, after 23yrs you are exempt from EPA emissions standards (you still must comply with your local/state laws) and after 25 yrs it becomes USDOT exempt for safety standards (seatbelts, side markers, bumpers etc)
this is why I can now legally remove all equipment installed on my 78 during importation, as I am restoring to "original specs"

the previous info was provided to me by USDOT/EPA/Customs and is available on their various sites
here is where you can find most of the info you will need to know

Just keep in mind that European 928s are naked compared to US models. In Europe, many features we take for gratned were options. For example:

- Sunroof
- Dark green tinted stripe at top of windshield
- AC in the early models
- Rear AC (US models)
- Heated seats (Canadian models)
- Leather seats
-...

yep, mine for example:
-no rear sun visors
-one single interior light, none in the doors
-no cruise control
-no power washer
-no nothing between the rear seats, only vinyl
-no dead cows in sight, all vinyl
-911-style seats (obviously no power nothing)

but then again, it weighs in at 1410kg....3100lbs

My 83 has all that stuff but a sunroof, which I consider a plus. Lots of dead cow in mine including a pristine leather dash. You gotta love it baby.

How could you get the car into the U.S. Could the current owner just drive it across the border and get a ride home?

Tags, we don't need no stinking tags I guess I could get an independent dealer license and drive it around with a dealer tag on it. Just kidding. I was window shopping and looking at this car, thinking it would be cool to have a 928 that's a little different.
