Rear lid latch plastic piece replacement?
There was a whitish plastic piece inside of the rear lid latch receptical. It broke into little pieces and now needs to be replaced. Any ideas?

If you ask for that piece and can get it, post that in all caps. I've looked and asked and not found it separately. That piece centers the upper latch and keep the hatch from wiggling around. Squeeks like mad without it.

OPC advise that they only sell the full latch, not the nylon/plastic insert.
My plastic insert broke up on the rear section, so I fabricated a new rear section from a tyflon type cutting board. I cut the rear section out using a craft knife along the fore and aft axis of the car, leaving the sides and forward section in situ as it was still in fairly good shape.
I made a drawing of the insert and then fabricated the rear section of the insert. Unfortunately the insert is wedged shaped so it was a little difficult to fabricate. Whilst making the section I allowed a wear tolerance on the thickness. When the section is looked at via the end elecation it is a "C" shaped insert with the lip sections fitting over the top and bottom of the latch.
When completed I used silicone sealant to install into place.
Works perfectly.
