Default New Brake Pads, Pad Sensors, 94 GTS

After 20,000 miles and an upcoming DE event at VIR tomorrow, I decided to replace the front brake pads from Pagid to Hawk HP Plus. Turns out the Pagids were only worn down about 50% on the left and about 60% on the right. The rears were still great, so I left them alone.

Also bought new front pad sensors, as long as I was in there.

So it's late at night on Friday and I've got the new pads ready to go and notice there is no hole in the edge of the pads for the sensors to fit into. The Pagid's had a hole in each pad edge.

So what to do? I didn't want to run a DE with the Pagids, so I go for the hawks and drill a hole (about a 3/16th's) hole about 1/2 inch deep into the pad edge, next to the backing plate. Looks just like the Pagid's now.

Has anyone else had to drill holes for the pad sensors????? I've searched the posts and couldn't find any references to need to do this.

Of course, after I get everything put back together, the "Brake Pad Service" warning light comes on when I start the car. I followed the break-in recommendations driving into town yesterday, a 5 to 6 medium stops from 35mph, then a couple of hard stops from 45mph. I tried a hard stop from 70 last night and all seems well.

I leave in a couple of hours for an overnight at VIR, the the Euroclassics DE event tomorrow (Monday). I am sure I'll have the only 928 there.

Default Brake sensors

I run different pads for daily driving and track events. Some of the track event pads do not have the holes for the sensors. I stopped using the sensors a couple of years ago. I've rolled up the wire and used a small zip tie strip to attache them to some point. I change the pads oftern enough that I have a good view of how much pad material is left. You would probably be OK to do the same if you keep an eye on your pad wear.
