Heinrich . . When Ernest & I did my TB/WP we found that the PO only changed the TB and NOT the WP. He also didn't rebuild the tensioner which btw looked aweful. IIRC, when Ernest checked the WP it had a dead spot when turning it. My guess it was about to go probably sooner than later. I don't even want to think of what would have happened if I procrastinated doing the service when I did. Catching it early when you did has to be a tremendous load off your mind. Keep us posted on the rebuild.

Thanks Guys for your kind wishes. At this point it's looking like a belt misalignment, hats off to Bill for calling it ... so far :-) ... I'm sorry I split this thread accidentally ... the current thread is "85 belt path". And OH YES there is so much gumming that I know it would have been only a matter of time ... but again, she TOLD me her troubles long before a real problem, the belt is fine and the valves are A-OK .... now to find the prob. See you on the "85 belt path" thread.

I've seen two posts where the initial suspicion was water pump and it has been proven to be other things. Perhaps water pumps do not have such a bad rap after-all. The problem is you have to read to the bottom of the thread and wait a few weeks.
