Sure is an unusual car! Im a HUGE fan of grey interiors but, i agree this one screams black and wood trim.

Shameless Plug,

I'll pass on the 418 Flankenschutzleisten. We've already gone there!

The guy offers to post more pictures and they are taken at night!? If he has nothing to hide, he is doing the car and the price a disservice.
Anybody think the rear bumper cover is faded, i.e., doesn't quite match the body?

1. On none of the pictures can I see a front spoiler. This means, the belly pan is missing also, the engine compartment probably a mess.

2. We've already heard about the broken fog light lens.

3. The color looks blotchy - it looks like there are different shades on different panels, indicating partial repaints. I can't tell for sure, as iridescent color can fool you on pictures, so this needs more research.

4. My main issues are with the interior. On the pictures, it just looks a lot more worn than I'd expect in such a special car. It seems there is a variety of scuffs in the leather, and the upper seam of the (dirty and scuffed) steering wheel is broken. It looks like the leather is darkened wherever hands would go - steering wheel, shifter, a spot on the passenger side of the telephone console, another at the door vent of the drivers side door. The carpet looks worn and not very clean

Maybe my standards are too high, but my '91 with 82k miles is a lot cleaner...

Many of these could be reflections from the flash, but we don't know. Also, lots of areas of the car are not shown at all. There is potential for things that need to be done in these other areas.

Nothing that can't be fixed - new carpet, an airbrush, and new leather on the steering wheel might do most of it. But it's not a weekend job... Add the leaks Rob mentioned, and some of the other things, and you know you'll be putting 10 Grand into this car in no time. Is it worth it? Well, it would be to me, if I had the money. But I don't.

I know nothing about this car but what I have read.... Rob ..(blown beast ) stated.."he is not the registered owner." I must be the only one who would be bothered by this ?? How does one sell a car which they do not OWN ! Oh right they "jump the title" to avoid registration and sales /use tax. You stroll into the DMV with what I believe is an out of state title signed by someone you never saw , a phony bill of sale or two conveying ownership and hope all is well. You have no way to contact the prior owner on the title to resolve any issues and probably paid the current seller in CASH and to do you a favor and save sales tax wrote a phoney bill of sale for $5,000 or so . Which means IF you want to unwind the "deal" he would need only return the $5,000 as stated on the "bill of sale". What am I missing ? other than a lot of optimism . Did anyone run a CARFAX ? just for grins.

Good point, Jim! Few of us buy cars often enough to know the risks of such transactions. In this case, one should pay the owner at the DMV, if the title is actually transferred. Otherwise no deal...

Something as simple as the title being signed on the wrong line , OR signed J E Bailey, and not James Edgar Bailey or the former lien holder did not release , or the car will not pass smog or the owner died and the car did not pass through probate .........

John Edgar Hoover was born Jan 1 1895 ........ FBI director from 1924 , but in 1947 my birthdate I think he was not yet so infamous. His "eccentricites" were not so widely known. This car in question is quite unique due to the color and amount of leather but Rob did mention to me last night that it does need a lot of love to make it look nice and he was not able to test drive it. The color would be very difficult to get a good color match because of the amount of "pearl".

I won the car!

I am having it detailed and then resold for $20,000. Anyone interested?

JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING!

Bad timing, but I couldn't resist.
