![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Anyone know how I can raise the rear tire well about an inch to clear my new tire and wheel setup? They look great, but, I need a little more height to not rub. I put the largest tire and wheel setup on. I want to do the job Sunday. I remember being a kid and using Clamps or 2 x 4's on the coil springs. Not too Shark friendly fix. Any adjustment areas? Check pictures.
Please help!
Thanks,
Ron

Raising the rear hight is gonna have a LOT of negative effects! How much clearance do you need - can you roll the fenders??
Even raising the rear - she's still gonna scrape when you hit a big bump or something.
One more thing to check...hard to tell from the pics - but do you have spacers on the rear??? Some of the wider spacers actually have the lug bolts built in, and could appear to be almost 'normal'.

Here's a link to a pic of the spacers on 928 INTL site. (That's actually TWO spacers hooked together in the pic)

Mark,
I only need about 3/4" it looks like there is a spacer buit in about that thick that has the lug studs conected to it. Can I seperate the spacer from the wide shaft? Looks possible. New owner still and learning. I'd hate to roll the fenders. What does that require? Spacers appear to be part of the hub and have only 5 studs. No extra studs. Not like the 928Intl picture.
Thanks,
Ron

When you take the rear wheel off next time (you need to get the rolling direction corrected anyway) snap a pic and it will probably be easy to see if there is a spacer on there.

Anders,
You're the second guy to tell me that. Who would have thought. I have the bottom of the "V" facing forward. Weird. New owner. I'll take pictures of spacers. seem to be part of the hub with only 5 studs.
Thanks,
Ron

Ron . . Your car should have the adjusters on it. Get the tool from any motorcycle shop and start turning.
Also use alot of WD-40 to make the job a little easier.

what size tires did you go with?also the bottom purchs adjust if any use a pipe wrench, also if you to near the lip try negative camber. If you do have the 3/4 spacer it should just pull of or if its lugged on just take the lugs off, but do make sure the original studs are not to short. Are the rims original turbo twist or aftermarket?

Anyone have a picture of the Purchs? Picture of the tool? I read something about a guy trying to buy an adjuster tool and the Motorcycle shop laughed at him.
Please let me know. Trying to do job this morning while kids are at Sunday school. I went with 245/35/18 front and 265/35/18 rears. The wheels are beautiful and strong looking. They are FRH from Mark at 928INtl.. Tires are S02 bridgestones. Great combo.. I'll check offsets out and update.
Thanks,
Ron

Ron -
The back of the wheel should mount directly up against the rotor hat (that;'s the part of the brake rotor that sticks out...) If there is anything between the rotor assembly and the wheel - you have a spacer!
In looking at your top picture - I think there's a spacer installed.

Get new shorter studs. (work)
Get the extra-tall lug nuts ($$)
Get steel open lugs. (ugly)

Okay, This job won't be that easy. got the wheels off while kids are at sunday school. Looks like there is a spacer. I don't want to force it off. I'd rather raise the coilsprings with the adjustment tool from a motorcycle shop. What is exact size of tool?
Which way would I spin the adjuster to go higher?
Should I have the tires on or off? Looks much easier with tires off.
Thanks for the tips on tire direction. I see arrows pointing forward now... Oops! Never drove the car yet because of close rears.
I like the way the tires look sitting more outboard of the center with the spacers. I can't see how the spacers would come off and if there would be another set of studs inside them. Is that possible?
Thanks Guys!,
Job won't be done with kids running around. I have a tough time concentrating and breaking up fights.

Those spacers are gonna need to come off....even if you raise the rear height - you STILL risk tire/fender well damage if you hit a bump/hump. I haven't seen those type...anybody here know the easy way to get them off?? You may have to pull the hubs and put in shorter lug bolts.
The other thing with those wider wheels with the spacers...it is going to put additional stress on the rear axle bearings and other rear end parts...
Also - what's up with all the greasy stuff on the bottom of the shock??? Is it going south on you?

I smacked my spacers with a rubber mallet and popped them off that way. My 17" turbo twists would rub with the spacers on, and I had to buy some extra long lug nuts to use the stock studs.
