OLD, I have the 89 GT stock exhaust with the RMB. It is on the fuzzy edge of loud. My inspection resulted in the car being put on the lift to look the exhaust system over....It passed, but I would have been bounced with no cats.....On top of the fact that I cannot believe that I would find the noise tolerable if it was any louder. Under WOT it wakes the dead.......

You could install an X pipe with CATs. It would not cost that much more and the HP loss is almost negligable if high flow CATs are used (Random Technology shown). By ceramic coating the X pipe the heat from the exhaust will make it to the CATs and they will operate efficiently.

wow I really really want an x-pipe now and with a 928 Intl. RMB I can't wait to wake the neighbors! Kinda like a rooster at about 9:30 at night...and about 928 of them.

I will be running Bullet Mufflers, p/n 212161, because they fit on 2.5" pipe, fit under the car, and flow well. The 2.5" pipes will go all the way out to the rear of the car. All pipes will be ceramic coated prior to the final installation. I understand that these mufflers produce lower frequencies and not the high frequency tinny rapping type of sound.

Hm... my X-pipe came without gaskets (no surprise really). Can I fabricate some out of exhaust gasket stock? Which thickness should I use? Or is there a special Porsche gasket that I MUST use for some quasi-mystical reason?
Thanks in advance...
