Default Crazy 18" Wheels - Now work --- Stock Wheels For Sale

Here's a set of big tires and wheels. Will they fit under my 1984 928s? I seriously doubt it. They'd look nice.

Tire Size Front: 225 / 40 / 18

Tire Size Rear: 295 / 30 / 18

Fitment: wheels are ET: 50 front ET: 45 rear

Please let me know soon today!

Thanks,

Ron

The fronts will probably stick out to much I'm afraid.

Should have mentioned ...

Wheel size: Front: 8 ½ x 18

Rear: 11 x 18

Tire Size Front: 225 / 40 / 18

Tire Size Rear: 295 / 30 / 18

I doubt they'll fit now.

Anyone know how much more wheel well the 89GT came with than the 84? I can't answer Ron's question because I don't have all the data.

I can say that a 245 x 35 x 18 with a 52 offset will fit in the wheel well of an 89 GT, at spec ride height. I can also say that a 275 x 35 x 18 with a 47 (no spacer) offset will fit on the back of the same car, at spec ride height. Those are the shoes Gretch is currently wearing

I have 235/40-18 on 18x8 ET 50, and they fit in fron..

295/30-18 on 18x10 ET 45 will NOT fit. They would if you had 18x10 ET65 and use a 1/4inch spacer. The et45 are from a 911.....

the set you asked about, the fronts will work, the rears will Definitely not. Not the tire size, The wheel offset kills it.

the GT fenders and all 1990 newer have the upper fender lips smashed flat for additional clearance that helps some but the fenders are otherwise the same width 78-95 , only rear GTS 1/4 panels are flaired. The 7.5 x17 front GTS wheel has a 65 mm offset so this 8 1/2 wheel has only a 50 offset which means the outer wheel lip is 15 mm farther out plus 1/2 inch (1/2 of the extra 1 inch width)

It is very close to me. I need to be at home and do some measurements. I try to get answers while I'm away friom the car. It's only a few mm off from Gretch. I think that they'll work. Any more ideas?

Jim from 928intl gave me this link http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

Thanks to everyone, Ron

I agree that I believe the rear ones will not fit.....especially since the rims are 11 inches wide....that cinches it for my calcs..............Mr Bailey also has a good point. My tires fit because of a 35 profile, and my ride height is at spec. I tried a 255 40 17 with a 55 offset on the nose......NO GO, but a 245 35 18 with a 52 will fit. Doing the math on overall width, the differences are in the low single centemeters, and on height it is 1/4 inch difference. However they break the limits.

BTW the 255 x40 x17 combination touched on the inside of the wheel wells, not the outside...... If your front ones fit, it is gonna be very close.....check your ride height....

Ron,
Wise decision... I tried to get a set of these to fit, but even with rolling the lip in the rear they did not come close to fitting. In front they did not rub, but IMHO they stuck out too far and looked funny. If you are dead set on this style wheel, look for the Boxter version with the 10" wide rears. They are harder to find and usually command a higher price.

Regards,
Bill

Bill
Did your 255 (front) & 275 (rears) fit your 88 S4 without fender mods? Also is your ride height set at stock? Did you notice a big difference in handling/ride quality/noise with the bigger tires?
Thanks
Brian
