FYI
I found this little device in my browsing today. Since i have access to the "Vee" and the S4 has a spare knock fitting in the middle. it may be a pretty cool little "gizmo" it uses a bosch sensor as well.

You can install the Knock detector monitor using the OEM sensor, but it is advisable to use the optional sensor (shown right). This is manufactured by Bosch (part# 0-261-231-006) and is a much more reliable and sensitive. I sourced the sensor separately from another group buy on Scoobynet and the Knocklink monitor was supplied by Jap Innovations.
The monitor comes with a wiring loom for connection to a constant +12v supply, -12v ground supply and to the sensor itself (two wires). The sensor part of the loom does not have a connector and you need to source this separately, although I'm told that if you buy the Knocklink display and sensor as a kit, you should get the connector as part of the kit.
The connector is a seperate Bosch kit (part# 1-287-013-003, Jetronic Connector Kit) and is available from any Auto Electrical outlet. I sourced mine from Teeside AutoTech for the princely sum of £10 inc. VAT and delivery.

Ive got this trailer and this spare motor ya see, and if i uh...nevermind.
I just happend to come across it via link of a link of a link. You know how web surfing can go. I hadnt seen a device like it and with all the boosting going on these days i thought someone may get some use out of it or the idea. Its also nice that the S4 has an extra knock fitting in the center of the V. Again, perhaps overkill, but it would be neat to see under what conditions the car starts to experience the onset of detonation.
As far as the specs Scot, i dont know. I think it just takes the regular knock signals and uses it to trigger a light via PFM. My guess is that its the frequency of knocks/sec thats determines which light you get "normal...caution....KNOCK"?? I dunno, perhaps intensity of knock?? i dont design it, just buy the stuff now and then
