multi meter recommendations

After owning (and still do) many Fluke's, HP's, simpson's and a few others, the best one I have found for automotive work and all around "take with you" ease is the Craftsman Mod. 81079. It will do current to 20 amps and has a built in infrared thermometer and even a probe for even more accuracy. It has a backlight but no bar graph. At about $100, it's a hell of a deal as I usually carry an IR thermometer with me anyways for tire temps and such.

Have to add to the Fluke recommendations. I'e had an 87 since 1984, mine came equipped with a rubber case that really protects it when dropped and the auto-range feature as well as the "sample and hold" feature is very handy.
