Saw this b/f too and thought the same thing. Looks like the car used to be white and now that you're telling us he is a paint technician I'm really wondering why he did paint the whole thing blue!

If I remember correctly, it was blue when he bought it. The car had been sitting dirty in a moist garage for a few years before he rescued it. Very low mileage - I think it's something like 35,000kms - llittle over 20k miles.

Has he considered repainting back to the original white? What were the issues with the moist garage? I ask b/c my 78 has some issues with white rust on some of the aluminum pcs as well as some of the nuts and bolts under the car and in the engine compartment. Just fishing for a way to eliminate it. Part of my fix involves replacing a lot of those parts but was wondering if there were a way to safely remove white rust?

Why am I not surprised that a car that clean belongs to a German fellow?

I'll bet he irons his socks too...
