I used the tubing method to get a pool of lube in there and allowed it to soak overnight. Frankly hadn't considered a light spray back through the valve, but that also sounds pretty good. I guess the car might run better if the other hose is plugged while shooting lube down to the valve...

Improper and hunting Idle speed, too rich or no fuel, no fuel pump turn-on signal, and clicking injectors with ignition on are some of the symptoms of the LH fuel injection controller starting to degrade. This is a worst case scenario, but is within the scope of possibility.

Does anyone think a plugged catalytic converter may be an issue with a poor idle? I have this same issue in an 87, but also have a significant power issue - are plugged catalytic converters a common issue?
