Optional cooling system
My 1986.5 has the option code 319, which, according to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, is "Engine cooling for hot climate countries." Does anyone know what kind of changes were instituted for this option?

From 928 Registry:
"319 Changed Step-up of Fan - Japan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Australia"
Sounds like it got the GTS cooling fan controller, which applies full battery voltage to the fans instead of capping it off at 12V.
Want to sell it ?

Hi Eric,
my Porsche WS documents state;
"Visco Fan
The fan ratio of 1 to 1.20, already used for Japan and cars in "hot" countries, is available as M 319 and is mandatory with optional extra stronger air conditioning equipment M 570"
I hope this helps
Regards
Doug

Physically the changed stepup means the pulley on the fan shaft is a smaller diameter than the std one. Maybe you could measure and compare some pulley diameters?
