Default Tranny rebuild

Hi,

the PO has offered to rebuild the transmission of my car. But he doesn't want to deal with removal/installation.

I've consulted a friend who is a hobby-mechanic, and he was reluctant to undertake the removal/installation job. (after reading the shop manual).

How hard is it to drop the tranny? And get everything in there properly, and aligned?

My issue is bad 1st and 2nd syncros, two blown cv boots, and oil leaking from the gearbox. Not so much from the diff. Perhaps I should just live with the bad syncros and just do the boots? Is it possible to re-seal anything with the box in ?

Any write-ups on the net about tansmission swaps?

MM

Removing the tranny is a tough job. A good deal of heavy labor. No real precision work involved, though.

I believe this has been covered several times. Check the email archives, too.
