Default Door Swap ?

Figured I'd throw this out there.

Anyone interested in swapping doors? I have an 80 Euro. When it was federalized, they did not fit intrusion bars in the doors so they are very lightweight. From a safety perspective, since these Texas roads are hazardous to your health, I am looking for a pair with the bars. Also, these doors have the bump strip along the side - since I am installing a body kit I figured it would be easier to try and find doors without the strip and save having to fill the holes in the aluminum.

These doors would be ideal for a racer or anyone else looking to shave a couple of pounds. They are Petrol Blue in color (resprayed) and one has a very small ding. The pass side window has stuck half-way closed (open for the pessimist) and I haven't diagnosed the problem. They do not include the interior panels. They can include the mirrors if you like, as long as yours have mirrors too. I think they worked before I removed them, but I can't remember.

So, in summary, looking for pair of doors, no molding strip, any color, with intrusion bar and glass intact in similar (or better ) condition than my own. Prefer someone in the south Texas area to avoid shipping charges. I can take photos for anyone interested.

Cheers

Hey, I have an 80 Euro too How do I tell if my car was fitted with these bars? My doors feel pretty heavy compared to other cars.

I have the doors off with the interior panels removed. There are no bars in there. I don't know if there any exterior tell tale signs

I have a spare driver's side door. Free if you pay the shipping. Let me know.

The marks are residue left over from duct tape. It's from an '81.

Dave, thats a hell of an offer, thanks very much. However your door appears to have the molding attached (bump strip, ding preventer - I'm having a mental block on its correct technical name). I am trying to find ones without that strip as it will not go with the body kit, and to try and minimize the amount of aluminum body work that needs to be done.

Again, thanks for your very generous offer

ken,
does your door have the provision for putting the bar in? as i recall it's a metal nipple/rod at the base of the door that the bar fits onto. i have a set of the bars from an '87 that you are welcome to if that works.

Mounting points, left, right, and the bar; only one hole is used:

You have to remove the window slide rod to R&R the bar.

The bar is really heavy. I wish I could find some titanium pipe...

OK so I screwd up. The glass was down in both my doors, and it has heavy tinting. I shone a flashlight in, and lo and behold, there were the bars. They are positioned much higher in the door than I had expected.

I apologize for starting a wild goose chase, and many thanks for your help
