Default I smoked 8 C6 Corvettes This Morning!

Of course, they were on the back of a transport truck on their way to a Chevy dealer I presume.

Although the styling is rather generic, it is attractive from what I could see. I don't think that it will prove to be a timeless design, but for today's market I think that people will generally rave over the styling.

With a 400HP front engine V8 and rear transaxle, performance will be exceptional in base form. Makes me wish the Porsche was still making the 928. Surely we would have 400+HP by now, almost a decade after we were making 350.

Thumbs up

One thing about those Z06 - Slap a set of comp slicks on them and your good to go. I always have liked vettes - especially the ZR1 - but from what I hear, the Lotus engine in the ZR1 is a MAJOR PIA to service. You'll always find a 6 near the front of the pack (in my experiences and with a good driver)

Give Porsche some time to take in the new 2+2. I can imagine it's going to be big hit! We should petition Porsche to carry the 928's name.

928 Mako (still my favorite name)
928 S5

Have a Good One!

I think if Porsche was still making the 928 it would have round about 500 HP now......but would probably cost $140K. Just think what they could do with some 6 odd litres of displacement as the vette has now.

Never been a great fan of any of the latest vettes, but you do have to admire the kind of performance you can get out of one. While the interior of the C6 appears to be a great improvement, I'm not quite sure about the exterior now.......just doesn't flow right in my opinion. It's always been way to "large" of a car for my tastes........yes this coming from a 928 driver.

One more caveat I have is how common they are.......right now I have 3 Z06s in my small developement with about 4 more base versions.......it's like there's a vette for every household.......I'm sure the C6 will be the same way. A low $$$ entry point and great performance do sway a lot of people. I'm at the point though where I value looks, originality, and performance all together.......not just a 0-60 number.

I agree with your last statement 100%. Over the weekend I drove from San Francisco to Sacramento which used to be a 2 hour drive. Not anymore. It took 3 1/2 hours because of traffic. For over an hour it was stop and go. No accident, just a lot of Saturday mid-morning drivers. I was really looking forward to driving the car on the freeway for 2 hours yet 0 - 20 mph isn't my idea of fun. With all that time to think, I started wondering why everyone on here is always talking about/wanting more power. If you're in California, there is really no where to use 400+hp unless you're going to the track. Although long, the ride was very comfortable, I can remember at least 2 thumbs-up and a lot of smiling nods as people wondered/checked out the car while rolling in traffic. I have no power problem passing people if I choose to on the freeway. Maybe the earlier cars were underpowered and they would benefit from a supercharger but I'm quite happy with my car the way it is, as long as it's not in the shop.
