Hahahah Eyeballed ... :-) Well, true. Actually the designer, one of the Porsche bros, was it Butzi, designed 100% on looks. And then they had to put in 2 batteries and splitter and ducktail etc to try to stabilise the car, and worse, they had to move the engine and shorten the overhang. Ah well Jim, I still love my little 911, I just love the 928 more

The difference betwen the long wheelbase and short wheelbase 911 was only 2 1/4 inches stretched from 87 inch to 89.25 the 928 is 98.43 wheelbase . There was a 996 Carrera 4 S , 2002 in our parking lot today it looked BIGGER , heavier than the 1987 S-4 parked next to it !!

I guess I'll stick with what I have. I got some great offers from the folks here on the parts. I just can't justify paying the price of the quarter window seals that are needed with the new parts. Those things are a bit spendy!

Jim G-Man .... I'm starting to think I'm interested in trading my S trim including rear side windows for yours piece-for-piece.

Developement photos show road and wind tunnel testing of a much larger rear wing than put into production. I would imagine that the foam rubber construction (required for safety regulations I assume) would not allow for the envisioned size.

I thought that little bump that sticks out in the S4's rear bumper also played a part in lowing the over all drag. Another reason why just adding the wing may not be a good idea - the bumper is part of the overall airflow with the front spoiler.

There is an after-market design, called the "S5" that we market.

Here it is:
