Default Putting my 86' S "To Sleep" (Storage Question)

Well the lower ball joint breaking pushed me to the edge. Going to school and having to put up with constant repairs on my 928s has taken a toll on my wallet. I can no longer afford both. I just purchased a 2004 GMC 1500 Z61 pickup, and I am going to take the insurance off the 928 and put it to sleep for a couple of years. I am NOT planning to sell the car! The 86' has driven me around for six years. I leaned how to drive in that car when I was 16. I drove it to High School, Jr. & Sr. Prom, did some crusing, drove it practically 130K miles. The car just has a personal value to it. I am going to put into storage in my fathers building and when the time is right I am going to do a frame up, all original restoration. I guess you could say that I am "putting my 928 to sleep". It will be some time before it will see the pavement again, but it will happen. If anyone has any long term storage suggestions please let me know. Thanks guys.
One more thing I will still stay active with the PCA, and other groups. I will still check in and see what you guys are up to.

See you in the future with a refinishted 928s.

Hi Michael,
using a SAE 15w-40 "Agricultural" specified engine oil containing a Vapour Phase Inhibitor (VPI) will be helpful. These special diesel/petrol rated engine oils (CG-4>/SH>) release the corrosion inhibiting vapour in the space above the oil level during storage.

In Australia Castrol's AGRI TRX 1540 is such an oil and readily available at their Farm Supply outlets or Distributors. They can of course be used normally on the road but at reduced oil change intervals

Regards

Doug should have his own site on automotive oils. What a resource.
