Talking SL55 AMG KILL

I had a unique opportunity today!

http://www.mbusa.com/brand/models/SL55.jsp

The first pull was from 80, starting with me about five car lengths behind him. Hit fourth gear and we were off! I pulled up on him and was beside him inside of fourth gear. I went into fifth and let off when I was five lengths ahead of him, as we were closing in on a group of cars. We trimmed our speed to get through the pack and had another nice opening in front of us. Again from 80, but with me in the lead... This time I kept it planted through fourth and fifth until he was a good ten car lengths behind. I backed off and let him pass, got a friendly

Having paid over $122,000 for the car, I would say there is one unhappy dude out there.

Go have a little Mercedes outline sticker made and stick it on your door with a line through it.

Awesome!

You gotta have major ego to drop that kinda wood on a ride, so his ego combined with the tail kicking you handed him surely has freekin ruined his whole week!

That is a once-in-a-life-time experience you just had there savor it man.....That AMG is rated at 450 BHP if I recall my numbers correctly. (EDIT, REFERENCE SAYS THE NEW ONES ARE 493 bhp)

Goes to show what happens when you handicap a car by making it so obscenely heavy (4,200lbs)... what a waste.

I gone for RIP in one.
In a drag race up to 150 that car would kill the 928.

You know the SL55 guy was at the dealer the next morning, complaing about the car.

Owner - "I'm telling you I got my a$$ smoked by a 15 year old 928."

Service manager - "Bull crap."

Default cobra dyno

what if your friendly S4 could do this..? Now, this is from a 4.6L Ford Cobra at approximately 1.6bar.. Tell the 928 community to keep working. My goal is to exceed this, providing the block can hold up. My emphasis of course is the torque curve... Ways to go yet....

Oh, all above is RWHP of course. Divide by 0.8 for Engine/Crank HP

errr... not *this* 928

I expect he would get a jump off the line since he has traction control and an automatic transmission, but I pulled away from him nicely and would expect to beat him squarely. He's just too heavy (he's carrying around one more pound per horse than I am), and notice his torque falls off over 4000 rpm (he has a twin screw).

GRG, have you been in one of these SC 928's?

Greg,

I hope to see you at one of the local events!

The 9/11/04 Porschefest in Brookline is a 1.75 hour drive from Waterford...
