I've had my S4 up to 172.9 mph (by accident) on the GPS. I was
trying to maintain a steady 168 mph, and had a slight downhill
section of road after a slight uphill. I figure the top end should
be around 186 mph, but that's 18 mph over my tech limit. My fastest
radar speed was 167.54 mph at the 2004 Bonneville 100. The fastest
I'd gone before the supercharger install was 168.6 mph on the gps,
it just took a lot longer to get up to that speed. The 928 is amazingly
stable at those speeds.

Marc and Susan got the White Car up to 211 at the 2000 Pony II, so
there's a lot more room to go faster.

Not as fast as the car will go, but faster than I should drive.

My car: '88 S4. I've done 120.
The PO said he can confirm it'll go 160 (indicated).
The PO also said he been clocked in a similar car by police radar going downhill @ 186. No ticket, no handcuffs.

C'mon Garrity, you tell the story. It's the stuff legends are made of.

As a driver...1980 928 with 84 Euro S motor...137mph on the radar trap at Pony Express race last year, I was allowed up to 140 mph. That was without a working speedometer, had to calculate my speed by the RPM's. 5th gear about 5000 RPM.

As a passenger....1990 928 S-4...164mph with George driving at the Bonneville 100 last year.

Rich.

In a 928?

Currently 162 in my kinda-modded '84 on GPS, there was a bit more speed to be had, but not enough road.

With the blower, the '84 should be redline limited between 188-192, depending on where I put the redline (GTS 28.18 a/t, not the old 2.20 rear)

I've gone faster, but it's hard to find the room to be safe in the midwest for much over a quick blast to 150-160.

1999- Late for work at the international airport-speedometer registered 245kmph- I was actually keeping up with a 737 coming upon landing. That was neat! Wonder if any of the passengers noticed.

About 245kph indicated on a runway last month, with a misfire. At that speed I was amazed to discover I could let go of the wheel with complete confidence. It didn't flinch. This is a SOLID vehicle.

I raced a supercharged M3 once were I reached 165mph. I used the rpm and tire diameter to determine my final speed.
Oh! Yes, I did win the race. Funny those cars (M3) stop going around 155.
I had the E500 MB to 145 and it was solid!

What Gretch said...125 in the e39...effortlessly on an on ramp; and a paltry 110 thus far amidst other speeders and tractor-trailers on the way back from SITM. Would love to get her on a track sometime. I have 9/12 points on my DL and don't need anymore trouble.

139.4 at the Bonneville 100 where the radar was (tech speed not to exceed 140) and 151 where the radar wasn't.
