I'm running 285/30/18's up front right now w/ 315/30/18's in the rear. Even though my car is mainly a track car, I drive it occasionally on the street.

The traction is great in the dry but wander seems to be dependent on the brand & model of tire. Previously, I was running 285 Pilot Sport Cups and those didn't follow the truck ruts in the highway too badly. But this weekend I was running 285 Hoosier RS303's and holding those in one lane took a lot of concentration. They also made making smooth lane changes rather difficult.

The Cups & Hoosiers are DOT R-compound tires so they're pretty compromised for performance over comfort/ease of use. I think it wouldn't be too bad with a regular street tire but it might require some trial error to find the right one.

Thanks Dennis, I too am running Michelin pilot sports and that is what I wanted to hear. How is the scrub on those? Will the steering wheel center it's self? What is your front rim dimensions...offset/size/and width?
Thanks Rob

Hey Beast, did you get your female metric to 6AN fitting FED EX today? It was unclear if wifey cakes gave the shipper the right instructions.

I run Michelin Pilot PS2 255/35-18 up front and they track great. No wondering at all.

Thanks Rob
(Disclaimer: My suspension is set up for the race track with low ride height and stiff springs)

Scrub isn't all that much greater than when I was running 8.5" fronts w/ 235's. Steering will center with no problem. With the Pilot Sport Cups, I was running on a 9.5" x 18" Kinesis which had previously been on the Devek white car. I flatspotted one of those so Marc Thomas lent me his latest set of 11"x18" fronts with Hoosiers for this weekend. If I hadn't run them myself, I would have never believed 11" fronts would have fit. As for offsets, well, Marc hasn't divulged them.

The biggest compromise for a street machine will be the loss of steering lock. With the 9.5's, I was down to 2.0 turns lock-lock. Acceptable for street driving but you had plan your U-turns to make sure they weren't too tight. They also made parking in lots with narrow lanes & spaces more difficult. With 11.0's, U-turns are impossible, becoming almost 3 or 4-pt turns. Too hardcore for the street.

Thanks Dennis, I would like to go to 10in fronts....but did not even think about the turning radius. I am glad to hear that the steering will still self-center.

Tim, Yes I did....Thanks. I am still looking for a way to copy a set of the GT chips for you and will send them to you just as soon as I get them done.
