Upper door panel, partially replace with new door card?
Hi All!
I’ve read that leather door panels curling is a common issue on our 928s.
My door panes for the most part are in great condition, except for the top edge next to the windows. Can this be fixed by partially or fully replacing the door cards with new ABS preformed door panels? Can the door panels be partially replaced just for the upper portion?
and what’s involved? Would I be peeling back the leather to then have to Re-affix to the new door cards or would the door cards sit beneath the old pieces and just get attached somehow?
Thoughts on how I should proceed?
Thanks!
The time and labor spent cutting and trimming the new door panel greatly exceeds the time to carefully strip the top vinyl and foam off the old panel, steam along the front and back along the right angle that has become too obtuse, adjust it to correct angle, clamp it, let it dry, and reassemble.
Cracks can be repaired with epoxy or resin.

Reason: grammar
As Rob said it's a relatively easy job to fix it, I made a basic wooden frame that forced that edge to be 90 degrees. Peeled back the cover and soaked the board with resin and a layer of fiberglass. It hasn't lost it shape for years now.
