brake circuit warning light
hi,
"bremskreis" it says on the red flashing light on my dash, which means brake circuit. It has been like that for some time now. Today I notced that I have no brake lights whatsoever (on the rear that is), and the switches are soaked in fluid.
Rumors say that there are two switches that need to be in sync, otherwise I get this warning light. I can't figure out how this works, since they appear to be in parallell according to the circuit diagram.
Q#1: are the two switches on the master sylinder the ones that actualy switch on the rear brake lights? I.e. no switch on the pedal as in most cars?
Q#2: and do the same switches trigger the warning light? and how?
Q#3: and how messy is it to replace the switches?

1: Yes
2: Yes. The switches are single-pole, double-throw and are connected to each other. If they both switch "on" then both light the brakes. If one goes "on" and one stays "off" then the brakes go on and the warning light is lit. If neither switches "on" then nothing happens.
3: Not too messy, surprisingly. I did mine in place and only a few drops came out. Does help to be quick.
