Jim,

Should you happen to be out here for another Frenzy, you can take a stroll down memory lane and visit with Former GA Congressman Ben Jones (Cooter) at his "Cooter's Place" Country Store in Sperryville, VA (about an hour drive from the site of this years Frenzy). He also owns one of the remaining 300 General Lees.

Ben Jones( Cooter ) was one of the promoters of the event , I do hope he was a better congressman than he is a singer . Although I do admire his enthusiasm . The prior Dukefests were held at his "Cooter's Place " but they needed far more space and traffic control so rented the Bristol Speedway . As I stated , I personally was never a fan (not that there is anything wrong with that) nor a Redneck . And the comment about Harry and the Henderson's , I represent that remark and do not plan to spend any time walking around in our N W Forests ...... I can not wait to get my big hairy hands on a certain someone's next emergency parts order ..............

Ben Jones lost to Newt Gingrich in 92' when redistricting forced the merger of their Congressioanl Districts in the Atlanta area. Don't think Jones was in long to accomplish much. I guess he came to like Sperryville, and stayed in the area after he lost. Can't say I blame him since my family used to have a cabin there.

No problem Jim.....you were just a fan of the car, right?

Porken,

The pictures of the interior show a sunroof switch but the 928 that went into the water was sans sunroof.

Steve J,

Yep those are early sport seats. Notice how the side bolsters are larger and the seat bottoms extend past the seat side bolsters.

BTW my 78 was a California car and 928 Intl put a new crate engine and interior in it in 1991. Anyone remember when the movie was made?
