Power Steering LP return hose repair kit prep and assistance
I am preparing to replace the low pressure ps return hose this week w the kit from Roger. I wanted to see if anyone has done this and has input on how to prepare where the hose meets the hard line. I’ll try Roger in the morning too for details. Here some pics of the situation.
Thanks in advance.

NOTE with the replacement hose thats under the coil to the tank ,
you need a hose with two different sized ends.
I did not know that Roger is selling a hose that is like the original with two different sized ends,
is this true?
up to now ,I get two different size 3/8 and 1/2 in Hydraulic hose ,
and the barbed hose junction with the same sizes,
Amazon sells the barbed hose connectors use good clamps.
Its not the prettiest repair but it works well and doesnt leak

thanks Mr Merlin. I haven’t received the hose yet so I’m not sure about end sizes. The product is designed for this application and my big question is: how does one prepare the end at the hard line? Does that end unscrew or do you have to cut it close and dig the rest out, etc…
you have to cut the swage off,
the use a cut off wheel on a dremel just dont cut so deep that you cut into the metal line.
I make two slices 180 apart then use a screwdriver to twist the cut in the swage open it should fall off.

perfect. Thank you so much, this helps a lot actually.
Ok, I think I can do this 🤞 😊
Yes the two ends of the rubber section are different size, but you can use the moulded hose that is meant to be the supply line from reservoir to pump. If you cut off one end what’s left is a perfect fit to hard line at one end and reservoir nipple at the other, and it’s moulded to correct shape.
I started on it last night. It’s a tight fit for the dremel and tough to get a good angle on it. A right angle attachment would work well here.
I carefully made a cut but not quite deep enough all the way along the ferrule and couldn’t get it pried off. I’ll get back to it tonight. Once I get that off and the new line on, the hose clamp for that end is a double eared hose clamp, reaching those ears to clamp down will be tight as well.

A couple of good quality jubilee (screw) clips are fine there. It’s return line so low pressure. I’ve used jubilee clips there for years with zero issue.

got it done last night! I did have to use a screw type clamps rather than the double ear clamps that came with the kit, I was not going to fit pinchers in there. So now the reservoir is new and both hoses there replaced. Hopefully she holds this time. Thanks so much for everyone’s guidance. It helped tremendously!
I purschased a replacement line for my 1982 928 from Partsgeek for #108.00 It was a URO part but did look solid and I wrapped it in a fire proof sleeve along the run
