Default Option Code for Piping / Option Codes without Letters

Hi All
So here is a question for somebody with in depth option codes knowledge...
I have seen cars with an option code for seat piping in vinyl in a different color it was a "10781" number without any letters. Did all cars with special color seat piping have this option or was it just occasionally used "when Porsche thought about it" because it seems like I have also seen cars with seat piping in a different color without any special option code.
Also, when I check at the 928 Specialists website the option codes (https://www.928gt.com/t-928codes.aspx#S4/GT), the only option codes mentioned were ones with letters in front of them, mostly "M". On the other hand, I have also seen other option codes starting with only numbers like in the ten thousand range. Is there a difference in these 2 types of codes with and without numbers?
Quite a detailed question here, but if anybody has an answer, I would appreciate hearing about it!
Thanks, John

According to my kowledge, the 5 figures option codes are Porsche Exclusiv codes, and are not listed as usual equipment, of course. They were listed on the build stickets (warranty booklet and on the car) from the last half of the 1988 MY, even if they were used previously. Usually, the same code was used on different cars, for the same kind of modification, but you have to read the full description to get all the detail. By example, 00011 is PTS, but you don't know in which colour.
10781 may be deviating piping, but only the text will let you know in which colour.

I hope that this is clear.

Yes, what Samuel says. Porsche refers to the 5-digit codes as 'Z' options, they have been in use since the 1984 model year- earliest car I can find with a Z option is WP0ZZZ92ZES840106, built in September 1983. There are a _ton_ of different Z-option code numbers (at least 100), I have not tried to catalog them all, because the way that they're coded makes organizing them a real headache. I do have (very incomplete) data on how many cars had a certain number of Z-options, at least 2200 cars with 1, at least 1000 with 2, at least 200 with 5, at least 100 with 8, and so on.

RE: piping in an offset color, code 04251, "SEATS: LEATHER PIPING ON THE FRONT AND REAR SEATS, IN LEATHER", was used between (at least) 1984 through 1989, I see it on at least 300 cars.

I also see 04601, HZ SEATS: PIPE ON THE FRONT AND REAR SEATS IN VINYL. So different codes for different seat piping materials.

To hijack this subject matter for a moment; did the carpet always have vinyl piping or was leather an option at some stage?

10791 is carpet binding in 'fake leather'- I could swear I've seen carpet binding listed with leather, but can't find it right now.

Just for perspective, here are all the 23 different Z-options used on the 191 US market '93s. (the US cars have considerably fewer Z-options, so it's easier to compile a year's worth of US market cars....) 86 cars had at least one Z-option - tally of the usage:

00011 7
00301 2
00321 2
00341 2
09981 4
09991 68
10021 12

Binding* not piping! Did full leather interior early cars (let’s say 78-83) have carpet binding in vinyl? I would like to know whether the full leather option included any change to carpet binding material in the earlier cars. At this point I am under the impression that leather binding was probably only an option in the later cars.

Ha! Réponse rapide/rapid response! Merci beaucoup/Thanks much!

A little bit the background here is that I am working on a sport seat project with Brian and wanted to know if this was really a clear option. The answer is I guess I have to stick with black piping with the black leather for sure in my case!

As there are no Z-options in the database before 1984, the short answer is I don't know. But Sonderwunsch was established in 1978, and there are plenty of 78-83 cars with a '99' interior code that indicates non-standard finishes, so anything is/was possible.
