Lightbulb re: Black 91 GT on eBay - More info

Hello Gang,
I received the following emails from Charlene at the dealership where the Black '91 GT on eBay - thought some here might be interested. Who knows maybe one of you folks may get a decent GT for a decent price. Looks like someone took the plunge for the opening bid of $14500 with 11 hours to go...

Hello Tim............thanks for the email..............the car is in great shape .
There have been 2 owners to this auto....yes the air works and not sure when the belt was done. You would not be disappointed with this car. There was only 100 of these made. The picture shows the car on our flat bed only because it had just been picked up. The car has 110 original miles on it.....and has no report of any accidents. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me @ 603-628-7660 . Again thanks for responding to our email ........have a great day, Charlene

Hello Tim .........just wanted to email you this email and let you know about the miles.........as you see (below) it was listed incorrectly from the company who makes window stickers and post the info on auto trader.........as you see they entered the miles wrong. There truly is only 110,203 miles on the car. You may check the car fax it is clean or call me with a fax number and i would be glad to fax you a copy of mine. Again any ????? Please call me ...........thanks charlene

Dear J,

I work for Dealer Specialties. We collect information for used vehicles including those at Scott's Performance Auto. I understand you were the winning bidder on an e-bay auction hosted by them for a Porsche 928. It has also come to my attention that, after running a Carfax, there seemed to be a discrepancy with the mileage for that vehicle. It would appear that we entered the mileage incorrectly. The information we gather is reported to Carfax. Please be assured that the mileage you saw on e-bay, 110,203 in the accurate mileage and that the mileage reported to Carfax, 177,344, is incorrect. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that this clears up any seeming discrepancies.

They are asking 22,900 for it when they put a clutch in it (if they haven't done so already). I got my '89 S4 from them last December, they're not bad guys but typical of a wholesale type dealer. My '89 came with NO records and needed lots of work. They said "it just needs to be driven"; yeah- right onto a lift to get every maintenance item imaginable done. They are 1 hour from me, and I've been tempted to drive up there to see it, but I don't think it has a clutch in it yet.
That GT might need maintenance too (I'd bet on it) so even if they come down to $20k you can add 2-5 more before it's good.

Carl,

These guys have several 928s on the lot...a white 86.5 for $7k (I believe it is an 86.5...VIN# WP0JB0927GS862715; 86.5 is >1000, right?), an 87 a/t (guards red, 122k, $10500), and this GT (on their website for $19,900). Oh, and note in the eBay photos of the GT that the windshield has the auction scribble still on it...tried to blow-up the photo to read it but the resolution is so low that it was impossible.

Good to know the REAL deal about this seller, thanks!
Tim

ps.
For the 944 Turbo (951) fans....they have a 1986 with 66k for $6999.
Hmm....if the odo isn't clocked, it isn't rusty or crashed, and the maintenance is even close to current, that isn't too bad...
