Redline ShockProof Gear Oil?
I'm due to change the gear oil in my transaxle and thought I would try the Redline ShockProof Lightweight. Has anybody used this stuff or know whether or not I might be asking for trouble? Any thoughts or comments appreciated (almost ).

Yep....running the heavyweight shockproof (essentially 250 Weight) but being synthetic..its classed as a 90 weight. In the summer time (temps above 70) it works like butter...smooth and nice. When its colder...below 60..as in some mornings here in the PacNW...it makes the tranny notchy until warmed up. I can imagine in ultra cold weather...it would be difficult to do any shifting.
When I change in the future..I will go for the lightweight, but for my uses right now the heavyweight works OK.

P.S. If you have notchy shifting now..I don't think the heavyweight will help all that much..go for the lightweight as a safer bet. Interesting looking stuff for sure...like a red smoothie....now my car is running all red fluids.from powersteering (ATF)..to amsoil...its red too..to the shock proof...I won't know where my car is leaking from haha.. :-)

Thanks Tom!
I'm going to try the lightweight then. My shifting is notchier feeling now with the short shifter, especially when cold. Love the new shifter though!
