I have a 1982 Porsche 928 that ran fine then all of the sudden wouldn't start, unplugged the AFM and it runs, figured it's a bad AFM except I bought used one that was said to be good and put it in, and it made no difference, id like to check the pins of the connector that plugs into the AFM. Any information or diag guidelines or diagrams would be great.
please post a picture of the engine bay ,
how old is the green wire?
is it a Bosch part?
The green wire is probably as old as the car, it is a Bosch unit. And I'm not with the car right now this is the best I got but I can take a full picture tomorrow
sorry that picture doesnt help.
I need to see the complete engine compartment to figure out its condition
first thing buy a new Bosch green wire and install it
Yes, replace the green wire. Just don't expect the new wire to restore optimal performance by itself.
How much information do you have with regard to this car's previous service history?
For what it's worth, the AFM itself is a very robust part. Aside from occasionally refreshing the "wiper track" inside and/or the pigtail, there isn't much else to do.
