Bulb Module testing

Hello all -

Does anyone know a proper testing procedure for the lamp control module?

My drivers side parking lights blow the fuse every time I turn the lights on but I can’t find a short in the wiring - I am wondering if a diode or transistor is shorted for pin 4 of the lamp module or the circuitry preceding it - as that appears to be the output to that circuit.

Nothing in the module “looks” blown or toasty.

Any ideas anyone?

remove the bulb from the socket then turn it on see if the fuse blows.
BUT first what was the last thing you fixed?

@buccicone Didn’t you diagnose a similar issue? Grounding problem?

What year? Early cars didn't have a single connector at the parking light? Positive & negative could be reversed.

Thanks all!

this is an 83. The problem was sudden. I checked the wiring at the front near the headlight. Nothing chafed or rubbing. Cleaned all the connectors with deoxit but no change (and they were fairly clean.

nothing looks out of place on cep

need to check the bulbs themselves.

Just unplug the module and see if the fuse still blows, the front marker lights only should come on without the module. If the fuse is ok then it’s the module or the rear lights.
